Local Community Events

The Dialogue attends community events and open days across the Upper Hunter throughout the year to share information on projects and activities, and answer questions from our stakeholders.

With its educational display in tow, the Dialogue attends community events and open days across the Upper Hunter and beyond including the Upper Hunter Show in Muswellbrook, Tocal Field Days, Broke Village Fair, Singleton Show, the Hunter Coal Festival and more.

The display allows community members to learn more about the Dialogue through its educational content and through face-to-face discussions with Dialogue personnel, however, attendance at the events also allows the community to educate the Dialogue.

Attendees at the community events use the opportunity to voice their concerns about issues and to discuss their perceptions of co-existence between the mining industry and Upper Hunter community.

As well as discussing community concerns, the Dialogue conducts hundreds of written interviews with attendees at the events. The surveys and discussions at events, as well as feedback gained by other community engagement activities, allow the Dialogue to track and prioritise emerging and changing concerns/issues from the community.

The events offer community members a valuable opportunity to have a meaningful, face-to-face dialogue with us.

Community Surveys

The Dialogue regularly undertakes short surveys with community members at local Upper Hunter community events to gather feedback on various issues to help inform the Dialogue’s priority focus areas.

The Dialogue regularly compiles and analyses the feedback received from these surveys to discuss with members of our Steering Committees and Working Groups.
