Upper Hunter Mining Dialogue Joint Advisory Steering Committee meets

Members of the Upper Hunter Mining Dialogue’s Joint Advisory Steering Committee met on Wednesday for their third meeting of the year.

Head of Sustainable Transition at BHP Liz Watts joined the meeting to update members on the progress of an ongoing PhD research project examining sustainable closure practices and to provide findings from a recent literature review.

Members also received updates and provided feedback on various environmental projects, including an air quality data analysis update, the preliminary 2022 rehabilitation progress and water use reporting project results, as well as the upcoming Pasture Restoration Field Day in October.

Committee members also discussed and supported a number of recommendations to enhance stakeholder engagement and communications following a recent review.

The Upper Hunter Mining Dialogue’s Working Groups and Committees will meet again in November to update our stakeholders as the year draws to a close.
